Job Summary
Responsible for supporting and executing RAN coverage and capacity planning activities to ensure optimal network performance, efficiency, and service quality. Conducts detailed analysis of coverage demand, propagation, and capacity trends to support network design recommendations, including site planning, optimization, and technology enhancements. Works closely with cross-functional teams, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders to deliver scalable, cost-effective radio network solutions while driving continuous improvement in planning processes and tools.
The Day-to-Day Activities
Conduct in-depth coverage and capacity demand analysis, including terrain, building penetration, and propagation modelling to support high-level RAN planning decisions.
Develop strategies to address coverage gaps and capacity needs, including recommendations for new sites, antenna optimisation, upgrades, and technology enhancements.
Provide cell design recommendations (e.g., sectorisation, Massive MIMO) to improve capacity and efficiency in high-traffic areas, ensuring cost-effective coverage solutions.
Monitor and analyse RAN network KPIs such as signal strength and throughput, and provide forecasting for future radio network requirements.
Participate in industry and regulatory engagements (e.g., MCMC meetings) to support compliance and gather planning insights.
Contribute to network-sharing proposals and solutions aligned with regulatory and coverage requirements.
Act as a technical resource for junior engineers, providing guidance on tools, methodologies, and best practices in RAN planning.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration of planning outputs into detailed planning and implementation activities.
Support review of planning deliverables to ensure accuracy, feasibility, and alignment with network objectives.
Contribute to process improvements by adopting automation tools and scripting to enhance planning efficiency and scalability.
