Summary
The
LV Chargeman is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
of low-voltage (LV) electrical systems within Telecommunication Operating
Centres (TOCs). This role operates on a rotating shift schedule and is critical
in ensuring uninterrupted power supply and system reliability while maintaining
strict safety and regulatory compliance.
The Day-To-Day Activities
Electrical
Maintenance
- Perform routine inspections, testing, and maintenance of
LV equipment, including switchboards, circuit breakers, lighting, PDUs, and UPS
systems.
- Conduct shift-start and shift-end checks to ensure all
systems are functioning optimally.
Troubleshooting
& Repairs
- Diagnose and resolve electrical faults promptly to
minimize downtime.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and restore
power/services efficiently in coordination with the team.
Preventive
& Corrective Maintenance
- Execute scheduled preventive maintenance to improve
system reliability and performance.
- Track and follow up on corrective actions to ensure
issues are fully resolved.
Documentation
& Handover
- Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activities, system
status, and incidents.
- Provide clear handover updates to ensure continuity
between shifts.
Safety
& Compliance
- Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout
practices.
- Ensure compliance with local electrical regulations and
conduct regular safety checks.
